Kootenai River

Tip of the week
Techniques

Streamers and nymphs will most likely produce the most action since bug activity can be minimal this time of year. However, warm days might see some caddis and if you're lucky some dry fly action.

Seven-day forecast

It looks like we can finally say we're getting consistent spring weather. Daytime temps will be pushing into the high 60s-70 through the week. This likely means runoff will start in earnest and tributaries will start pushing color into the main stem of the Kootenai. Additionally, flows from Libby Dam will likely increase dramatically very soon as well. Right now the river is fishable but what with weather and runoff things can change very quickly. It's really a day by day situation.
